GOD WANTS TO DO GREAT THINGS THROUGH YOU!

ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

In the fall of 2023, Pastor Kris preached a series of sermons laying out our clarified Mission, Vision, and Strategy.  Our Adult Life Groups also studied a series of lessons built off of the messages to allow our church family the opportunity to process and own these guiding statements.  We enourage you to visit our Sermon Page, listen to the Life on Mission sermon series, and then join us as we live out our lives together on purpose.

OUR HISTORY

(1989–1990) Lakeshore Beginning

Major Developments

•        Five families held an organizational meeting in the home of Clay and Julia Price to establish a new church in East Parker County.

•        This group connected with First Baptist Church, Weatherford, and the Parker Baptist Association, who had land for a church plant.

•        The core group, with help from FBC Weatherford, held a tent revival on our current location.

•        A modular building was purchased to allow the church to hold services at 200 S. Lakeshore Drive.

•        Terry Cosby became the first full-time Pastor in April 1990.

(1991–1995) Lakeshore Established

Major Developments

•        April 28, 1991; the church moved from mission status to church status becoming Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church with 142 charter members, some of whom are still attending.

•        The church broke ground on their first permanent building on September 1, 1991.

•        Many programs were added.

(1996- Present) Lakeshore Growth

Major Developments

•        Dr. Tommy Hood became the second pastor in February 1996.

•        In early 2000, the church paid off the loan on the first building and then bought land to the East and West of the current property.

•        The church broke ground for their second permanent building in October 2002.

•        In 2002 Lakeshore organized the “Builders Bunch,” a team of members that traveled around the state helping churches and camps with construction projects.

•        May 2008 Lakeshore sponsored Brazos Trails Cowboy Church plant.

•        2012 the church increased its participation in local and national mission work.

•        Dr. Martin Knox became the third pastor in January 2015.

•        Due to COVID Lakeshore began streaming service in March of 2020.

•        The church suffered extensive water damage due to pipes freezing in 2021.  This led to a major remodel of the first building, creating more foyer space, and a more contemporary look.

•        Kris Raven became the fourth pastor in January 2023.

•        In the fall of 2023 Pastor Kris shared our new Mission and Vision Statements along with a four-part strategy plan to help us accomplish our goals.
